A Four-week Intro Class to Writing for Children and Young Adults

Do you have an idea for a children's book, or have you always wanted to write one? If so, join me this spring for a course that introduces how to write for children and young adults.
In this four-week, 8-hr class, we will cover topics like: the children's book publishing landscape, how to turn an idea into a story; story structure; character; voice; myths about writing and publishing for kids; and you'll learn how to write picture books through young adult. We'll also discuss the path to traditional publishing, including an intro to query letters and synopses. The course includes an opportunity for feedback on your own work.

Genre + Age in the Children's Market
From picture books to YA, there's more to kids books than rhyming texts. We'll talk about writing for all ages and genre under the children's book umbrella.
At the heart of every great story is a compelling character. In this course we'll talk about how character influences the story structure, and how to create a memorable character that kids will love.
Practical Writing Strategies
You'll receive loads of craft tips about voice, setting, dialogue, etc. that will bring to life your children's book.
